Budget 2005/2006

After hours of wrangling over the past couple of months, Folkestone Town Council's budget was finally agreed on Thursday (27th January).

The decision was not unanimous, and I was amongst those voting against what I considered to be an excessive level of tax. I had argued for fewer staff and that we should not spend money until we have developed a coherent strategy. These arguments fell on deaf ears as the Independent Liberal Democrats, Go Folkestone and the Liberal Democrats conspired to defeat the Conservatives.
